Equal parts haunting, hopeful, and reflective, the music weaves an evocative and ambient tapestry that shifts seamlessly through the film's unique, multi-layered drama. John had to dig deep into his sonic toolbox in order to create the perfect balance, mixing live instruments with his own brand of ethereally manipulated pianos, guitars, harps, and found sounds.

Childless tells the story of four adults linked by blood and love. Already wrestling with the fragile realities of middle age, they now find themselves struggling to rise above their shared histories and personal disappointments as they gather for the funeral of the teenage daughter of one of them.

Unexpectedly,the girl’s death breathes fresh life into everybody and her funeral offers an opportunity for renewal.

Granite Films presents an innovative, dramatic feature film, written and directed by Charlie Levi, developed and produced by Graham Leader.
Written by Charlie Levi and marking his directorial debut, the film also launches Granite Films, headed by Graham Leader, producer of In the Bedroom, which was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture (2002). Fully financed by Granite Films, Childless is Leader’s first feature film following In the Bedroom and kicks off a slate of projects developed for his new company.

"

TIme Suite

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_mC3Q1snQHSE/RpTQ-LoNsaI/AAAAAAAAAAc/a1v8yHlJnwQ/s200/ChangeX.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5085919645900059042" />
John Petersen and director/editor John Zieman have recently completed a stunning new video art piece entitled "Time Suite" which utilizes a patented digital video projection technique to striking effect. Cinematographer Manfred Reiff created the hauntingly beautiful images using the new Arriflex D-20 state-of-the-art high definition camera. The organic musical score incorporates processed pianos, treated guitars, orchestral strings, diverse rhythms, and an array of disparate sounds to create an otherworldly composition.
Zieman describes "Time Suite" as a poetic musing upon our human perception of time. As the computer animated typeface wraps around the subjects, they literally "embody" the text. The result is a series of clean yet layered portraits, a commentary on the human experience, and an emotional portrayal of how one feels while sensing time and its passing."
Coming to a museum near you.

Welcome

Thanks for stopping by the website and weblog for John Petersen Music.
