It’s all about me (!) :

A brief history……..

Fresh out of college and living in New York City I was handed one of my first assignments ---------- to come up with a rock signature for a proposed new music television channel. A what ?

That, of course, came to be MTV and my rock ID was now the channel’s ubiquitous theme and a part of music history.

Lucky me.

Suddenly people were clamoring for my attention and throwing all sorts of unforeseen projects my way. I barely had a clue of how to operate in the music business. But somehow the universe was conspiring in my favor, just enough to begin to pave the way for me (with quite a few all nighters!). I wrote and arranged themes for Columbia Pictures, the USA Network, VH1 and ABC World News.

Hollywood & Vine soon rapped on the door to have me create the musical/sound effects for the fantasy scenes in the major motion picture “9 to 5”. Fun. With that came new projects creating original music and sound design for a host of movie trailers including Blow Out, American Werewolf in London, and Mad Max, Beyond Thunderdome.

Next, some television folks who needed a theme and an orchestral score for a new cartoon series called “Voltron” gave me a call. Tapping into the vast pool of talented studio musicians in New York City, I completed the job. Happily, the show was a huge hit. I still get fan mail from that one.

Luck, again.

I made the pilgrimage to LA to seek all that I was entitled to………… ok,actually it was a trade show……. but wouldn’t you know it I met the legendary Jan Hammer and somehow convinced him to listen to my demo. Two weeks later he passed the reins to me to score the next season of Miami Vice. At the time it was the most musically driven show on television(sort of like a long music video). I scored a one hour episode every week. All nighters once again. Hundreds of commercials, 3 films, 5 TV shows, 4 documentaries later----- I’m still at it. Forever learning, mangling sounds, expanding, banging, strumming, and refining my craft. That’s my job.

Look around and see what else I’m doing. I hope that you enjoy the journey as much as I do.

Faithfully,
